How to choose a choker set for a wedding
Bride, family or guest: how to pick the choker size, stones and pairings that suit the day and your outfit.
First, think about your role
The bride can go fullest: a wide choker, a long necklace below it and a maang tikka. Close family can wear a statement choker set with matching earrings. As a guest, a lighter choker looks elegant without competing with the bride.
Neckline and fit
A choker sits at the base of the neck, so it shines with round, sweetheart and deep necklines. With a high-neck or collared blouse, choose a long necklace instead.
Check on the product page how the choker fastens, and try it on with your blouse before the day. It should sit flat without pressing on your throat when you look down.
Choose stones by your outfit
Red and green stones are the classic choice for red, maroon and green wedding outfits. Pink and mint stones suit pastel lehengas and sarees. For an outfit with many colours, pick a multicolour choker or one that repeats the main colour of the border.
What to wear with it
Most of our choker sets come with matching earrings; the product page lists what is included. For a fuller look, add a long necklace or haaram below the choker (see how to layer necklaces) and a maang tikka in the same tone.
Keep all pieces in one finish. Antique gold-tone with antique gold-tone looks rich; mixing it with bright gold-tone or silver-tone looks accidental in photos.
Comfort for a long day
Weddings mean hours of standing, eating and photos. Wear the set at home for an hour beforehand, put it on last after make-up and hairspray, and keep the pouch in your bag so it goes straight back in at the end of the night.
